The Stanley Spencer Gallery contains a major collection of the paintings and letters by the artist as well as a small library about his work. Spencer lived and worked in the Berkshire village for much of his life and the gallery’s changing programme of exhibitions celebrates his career. Jill Craigie’s pioneering arts documentary Out of Chaos(1944) features Spencer at work as a war artist and we will be sharing our research on this film with them at an event hosted by the gallery.
